The Weedpatch Widowmakers got a stellar performance from pitcher Jeremy Sharpe, who handcuffed the Louisville offense en route to a win, 5-2, at Miller Park. Sharpe yielded 2 runs over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 8. His record improves to 10-3. Oliver Wood closed the game out for Weedpatch, earning his 35th save.
Weedpatch got a big at-bat from Providence, Rhode Island native Tony Thomas, who in the top of the first hit a 2-run triple. It was his 4th triple of the season and put the Widowmakers ahead, 3-0.
"We certainly don't want to get used to losing," said losing manager Steve Reid.
Louisville has now lost 8 in a row.
