The Mexico City Aztecs dealt the Nashua Sweepers a 6-3 loss at Tony Gwynn Stadium. Omar Snell, who is tied for 6th in the S-A in triples with 5, was the star on offense. He went 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Alvaro Ochoa earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. His record is now 7-0. With the win, Mexico City has a record of 98-32. Nashua falls to 66-64.
The Sweepers had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Aztecs going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old left fielder Steve Valkenburg came to the plate. Valkenburg hit a 3-run home run on a full count fastball from Nashua hurler Lorenzo Martinez. It was Valkenburg's 4th home run of the year.
"This win gets us that much closer to where we want to be," Snell said in postgame remarks.
