Sweepers Handed 2-1 Loss by Lake Elsinore
In a low-scoring affair between the Lake Elsinore Storm and the Louisville Sweepers, pitcher Jose Guzman was the difference between victory and defeat. The Lake Elsinore right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 2-1 Storm win. The winner was Guzman. He threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Ricky Davila. With the win, the Lake Elsinore record is 29-97.

The Sweepers had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Storm going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old left fielder Alfredo Cruz came to the plate. Cruz hit a run-scoring double on a 1-0 sinker from Louisville hurler Ricky Davila. It was Cruz's 7th double of the year.

"Scoring was at a premium tonight," Guzman said.
