Sweepers Win at Home, 2-1
|
Miller Park featured a tense pitchers' duel.
Nate Kreps never let Mexico City get something going. The Nashua right-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Sweepers to a 2-1 win. Mark Williams earned the save for Nashua, his 14th.
Nashua designated hitter Andrew Ortiz helped the Sweepers go up, 2-1, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Ortiz hit a run-scoring single off Mexico City pitcher Brian Nichols.
"Nate was doing a good job pouring in strikes," said Nashua manager Tony Allen.
With the win, Nashua goes to 46-77, while the Aztecs fall to 81-42.
