Red-Hot Aztecs Win 7th Straight
|
The Aztecs grabbed a win, 5-3, at Wizards Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Kalamazoo pitcher Michael Brumfield. Brumfield went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Joey Dykema converted his 6th save in 8 tries. Mexico City has run its win streak to 7 consecutive.
Ricky Cooper came through with a big-time hit for Mexico City. The second baseman smacked a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We take it day by day here," said Cooper, "and today was a good one for us."
