Sweepers 5-4 Winners Over Dollywood
|
Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Dollywood Partons take on the Nashua Sweepers.
The Nashua Sweepers overcame a good performance by Dollywood designated hitter Colby Freese to knock off Dollywood, 5-4, at Dolly Parton Ballpark. Freese went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Malcolm Robinson, 3-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings.
Nashua used a clutch at-bat from Andrew Ortiz to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Sweepers ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"I felt good up there," said Ortiz. "I saw the ball well."
The Sweepers go to 45-77 with the win.
