Kalamazoo center fielder Mike Petty was sensational. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Barrie beat the Comets, 9-5. The save went to Jon Messer, his 11th this season. The Admirals improved to a lofty 86-36.

Brian Ericson had a big 2-run double for the Admirals in the bottom of the first inning. With Barrie leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Alex Gonzales and swatted a double to right. It was his 14th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Admirals ahead, 4-0.

"It's fun coming to the ballpark," said Ericson, "when you're on this kind of roll."
