Columbus Absorbs 4-2 Loss to Barrie
|
The rain did not keep Barrie and Columbus from finishing their game.
The Barrie Admirals knocked off the Columbus Bowsers, 4-2, in Southern A action at Ballpark of Columbus. Barrie pitcher and Douglasville, Georgia, native Marty Matthews had an outstanding performance. T.J. Huckaby was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 16 of 19 save opportunities.
Gabe Hans provided a timely hit. The Barrie right fielder delivered a bases-clearing triple in the top of the sixth inning to put the Admirals on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
In postgame comments to the Barrie Chronicle, Matthews said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
With the win, Barrie has a record of 79-38. Columbus falls to 61-56.
