McCumiskey Slugs Eagles to 8-2 Win
|
The Indianapolis Eagles defeated the Chicago Gangsters, 8-2, at Eagles Stadium. Indianapolis was led by 24-year old center fielder Adam McCumiskey, who slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Jesse Walker, the winner, is now 5-6. He struck out 5 and walked 0 over 6.1 innings, while allowing 1 run on 6 hits. Indianapolis has 3 straight wins, Chicago 3 straight losses.
Alex Sanchez had a big 2-run triple for the Eagles in the bottom of the second inning. With Indianapolis leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a curveball from former first round draft pick Nick Slover and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Eagles ahead, 3-0.
In postgame comments to the Indianapolis Citizen, McCumiskey said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
