Chicago Sent Home with 7-5 Loss
The Indianapolis Eagles defeated the Chicago Gangsters, 7-5, at Eagles Stadium. Indianapolis catcher Matt Lepa had a superb performance. He was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner was Jerry Bowman, who threw 100 pitches over 5.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 5 runs on 6 hits. James Gibson earned the save, his 10th.

With Indianapolis leading 2-1 in the bottom of the second, Lepa hit a curveball from Arnold Novak for a 3-run home run. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Eagles ahead, 5-1.

"It was a solid, all-around game for us," said Indianapolis manager Pete DuBay.

The win elevated the Eagles to 41-30.
