The New Rochelle Purple Wave went home winners at Ballpark of Lexington, thanks in large part to starter Kyle Griffin. Griffin stifled the Orono Oaks, enabling New Rochelle to grab the 3-0 win. Shane Edwards earned save number 6 this season. The third-place Purple Wave bumped their record to 50-53.

The Oaks had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Purple Wave going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old right fielder Michael Nava came to the plate. Nava hit a 2-run home run on a first pitch fastball from Orono hurler Brian Treadway. It was Nava's 13th home run of the year.

"That was a really good outing by Kyle," said New Rochelle manager Brent Boudreau.
