Heat Pull Out Late Win, 6-5
|
The Quebec Fighting Quakers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Andy Swift into a win. Instead, the Palm Springs Heat prevailed, 6-5. Swift threw 5.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Palm Springs reliever Antonio Villareal was the winner. His record is now 1-2. Jerardo Perez took the loss. The save went to Isiah Hamlin, number 16 for him.
Jerry Milton drew 1 walk for Palm Springs. With one out and the game tied in the top of the ninth inning, Milton had a clutch at-bat. Facing Quebec hurler Jerardo Perez, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Heat a 6-5 lead.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Milton said.
The Stripes Conference West Division-leading Heat are 68-37.
