Orono Hot Streak Continues with 5-1 Win
|
The Orono Oaks knocked off the Fremont Marshalls, 5-1, in Stripes Conference action at University of Maine Stadium. Orono pitcher and Breckenridge, Texas, native Colin Esser had an outstanding performance. Esser yielded 1 run over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 9-5. Orono has now reeled off 8 straight wins.
Third Baseman Bobby Oliver made an impact for Orono, when he swatted a solo home run off Cameron Outlaw in the bottom of the second. For the contest, Oliver went 1-2 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times.
"That's what makes it fun -- everybody's jacked up because of the way we've been winning," said Orono manager Mike Sanchez.
