Thrilling Victory Pushes Selects Win Streak to 5
|
The Spokane Selects faced a tough opponent in Walnut Park pitcher Mike Garst, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Ballpark of Walnut Park by a final score of 3-2. Garst went 5.1 innings and allowed no runs. Mike Bruce, 2-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. Tyler Doss finished to wrap up his 21st save.
Spokane used a timely hit from Ryan Anderson to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Selects ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a difference-maker.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Spokane manager Chris McLure.
The Selects, at 59-41, have now won 5 straight.
