Ann Arbor first baseman Richard Ulmer made his presence felt in the 6-5 Z's triumph over the Spokane Selects. Ulmer went 2 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Ann Arbor reliever Josh Kuhn picked up the win to move to 5-2. Pedro Martinez suffered the loss. Brian Finkel, credited with the save, is now 1 for 3 in save opportunities.
Ulmer had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a first pitch changeup from Pedro Martinez, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Z's a 6-5 lead. It was the 12th home run of the year for Ulmer.
Ulmer told a Ann Arbor Gazette reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
With the victory, the Z's upped their record to 55-42.
