Bruins Score Late to Beat Heat, 4-3
|
The Westwood Bruins wiggled past the Palm Springs Heat, 4-3, in 12 innings at Jackie Robinson Stadium. The win was highlighted by the performance of Westwood pitcher Randy Lupton. Westwood reliever Josh Kuhn picked up the win to move to 2-2. Brent Gudim suffered the loss. The win elevated the Bruins to 58-41.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 12th inning, when Westwood first baseman John Whitney, facing Brent Gudim, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Bruins the 4-3 win.
"This place was rockin'," Whitney said.
