New Rochelle got a valiant performance from pitcher Jim Mendoza, but it wasn't enough to beat the Spokane Selects. Spokane won the game, 3-0. Mendoza threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Rich Mack earned his 1st save in 1 chances. The Spokane win streak is now 3 games.

Spokane used a well-timed hit by Ricky Plascencia to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Selects ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"Clutch hitting plus clutch pitching usually equals a win," said Plascencia.
