The Columbus Bowsers used the hitting of shortstop Yoneo Yamamoto to subdue the Lake Elsinore Storm, 5-4. For the game, Yamamoto was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Columbus reliever Chad Iverson picked up the win to move to 1-1. Brian Sanborn suffered the loss. Columbus has now won 3 in a row.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Yamamoto hit a fastball from Brian Sanborn for a run-scoring single. The Bowsers, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
