Heroes Drop Bowsers, 4-2
|
The Columbus Bowsers were defeated, 4-2, by the Pueblo Heroes at Heroes Ballpark, even though Gil Carroll pitched well for Columbus. Jon Caruso got the win, improving to 7-4. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 9 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Picking up the save was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Nick Ashworth.
Nate Cobb had a big 2-run home run for the Heroes in the bottom of the second inning. With Pueblo trailing 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a slider from 19-year old right-handed pitcher Gil Carroll and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Heroes on top, 2-1.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Pueblo manager Jeremiah Simpson.
Pueblo now owns a record of 75-38.
