Sweepers Dealt 6-4 Loss by Columbus
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Columbus Bowsers and Louisville Sweepers.
Behind a solid performance from second baseman Dennis Brent, the Columbus Bowsers defeated the Louisville Sweepers, 6-4. Brent was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times for the Bowsers. R.J. Eisen snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 4 hits over 2.2 innings. He's now 1-2 on the season. Picking up the save was 19-year old right-handed pitcher Arturo Pintado.
John Gentry's at-bat in the bottom of the sixth was significant, coming with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the game tied, 4-4. The Columbus pinch hitter hit a run-scoring single off Danny Alvarez to put the Bowsers up.
"Winning is hard sometimes," said Bowsers manager Adam Farmer. "This one was nice to get."
Columbus, with the win, is 38-73.
