Storm Suffer 8-5 Road Loss
|
The inspired effort of Lake Elsinore designated hitter Dennis Gardner was not enough to prevent a loss, 8-5, to the Weedpatch Widowmakers. Gardner was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Danny Martinez, who is tied for 4th in the S-A in innings pitched with 145.1, was the winner. He's now 12-3. The loser was Luis Lopez. Oliver Wood, credited with the save, is now 28 for 31 in save opportunities.
Center Fielder Ed Woodside made an impact for Weedpatch, when he swatted a 2-run double off Luis Lopez in the bottom of the third. For the contest, Woodside went 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"What's not to like about a win?" said Woodside.
The win for the Widowmakers lifted their record to 65-44.
