Tropics Come Up Short at Lake Elsinore, 3-2
Bobby Villasenor could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his White Deer Tropics lost, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Lake Elsinore Storm at Dust Devils Ballpark. Jim Unknown, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held the Tropics to 1 run on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 1 and walking 3. Mark Amponsah closed the door for Lake Elsinore, picking up his 1st save of the year.

Lake Elsinore catcher Trey Lacey landed a blow when he belted a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. It was his 31st home run of the season. With it, the Storm took a 2-1 lead.

"Both teams played hard," said Lake Elsinore manager Alex Archila.

Despite the win, the Storm still have a lousy 26-79 record.
