Mexico City Wins, Townsend belts 2 home runs
|
The Mexico City Aztecs defeated the Columbus Bowsers, 7-3, in part because of third baseman Josh Townsend. Townsend belted 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Aztecs. Roy Garcia got the win, improving to 11-2. He worked 7.2 innings, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 2. Mexico City has now won 4 straight.
Townsend contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Mexico City in the top of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Townsend took a fastball from David Procaccini and stroked the home run to right-center. His 14th home run of the season allowed the Aztecs to leap in front, 3-1.
"Every win gets us closer to our ultimate goal," said Townsend.
