|
Kalamazoo Comets starter Russ Campbell led his team to victory over the Weedpatch Widowmakers, 4-2. The right-hander was locked-in. Campbell picked up the win for Kalamazoo, going 5.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 1 hits. He now sports a record of 1-3. The Comets go to 40-59 with the win.
Kalamazoo took a 4-0 lead on Bobby Gomes's 1st home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Gomes hit in the top of the seventh, left Weedpatch pitcher Bill Flores visibly frustrated.
Weedpatch manager Tony Velez said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
