Widowmakers Lose as Lumberjacks Stage Late Rally
|
Weedpatch wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Danny Martinez, falling to the Bangor Lumberjacks, 4-1. Martinez threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Adam Woll, who is tied for 4th in the S-A in saves with 10, was the winner in relief. His record is now 3-2. The losing pitcher was Jose Cruceta. The Lumberjacks sit in second place in the Southern A East Division with a record of 58-42.
Nate Roberts, who is tied for 8th in the S-A in home runs with 22, took Weedpatch hurler Jose Cruceta deep in the bottom of the eighth. His 2-run home run put the Lumberjacks on top, 2-1. In all, Roberts had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Roberts told the Bangor Herald.
