11-9 Pueblo Loss Tarnishes Cray's Fine Effort
T.J. Cray had a good game, but he could not keep the Pueblo Heroes from falling, 11-9, to the Mexico City Aztecs at Tony Gwynn Stadium. The Pueblo first baseman was 3 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3 in the loss. Mel Mercado was the winner. He's now 4-3. The loser was 20-year old right-handed pitcher Travis Holloway. Picking up his 20th save was 22-year old right-handed pitcher Omari Johnson.

Mexico City left fielder Jonathan Lewis contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a fastball to right-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 10th hit of the season and put the Aztecs ahead, 4-0.

"It was a solid team effort," said Lewis after the game.

By defeating Pueblo, the first-place Aztecs improved to 65-34.
