One Run Not Enough for Crawdads
|
New Rochelle starter Blake Banks put the Hickory offense in a vise grip. The right-hander relied heavily on his splitter in leading the Purple Wave to a 2-1 win. New Rochelle's record now stands at 45-49, placing them third in the Stripes Conference East Division.
The Purple Wave benefited from an error in the bottom of the third inning. New Rochelle was leading 1-0 when Kyle Nash hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put New Rochelle in front, 2-0.
"Our pitching was the difference tonight," Nash said.
