Cameron Outlaw never let the Z's get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his slider, to pitch the Crawdads to a win, 4-1. Dusty Nelson got credit for the win, improving to 3-1. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. Hickory is third in the Stripes Conference West Division with a record of 56-39.

Had Jeremy Alfano not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Alfano hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Crawdads.

"For the most part, I didn't think they knew what was coming," said Outlaw.
