In a low-scoring contest between the Fremont Marshalls and the Spokane Selects, Donnie Marcus was the X factor. The Fremont left-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. In 6.1 innings, Marcus surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Ryan Butler collected his 11th save.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Marshalls had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when shortstop Paul Kuhns hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Aaron Daniels and made the score 2-1, Marshalls. Kuhns went 1 for 3.
Said losing manager Chris McLure: "We've got to find a way to push a run across."
