Kevin Clinger pitched well, but the New Rochelle Purple Wave still lost the game, falling, 2-1, to the Westwood Bruins at Jackie Robinson Stadium. Randy Lupton, the winner, goes to 3-0. He allowed 1 run on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts over 7.1 innings. Westwood, at 55-38, is 2 games up in the Stripes Conference East Division.
In the bottom of the sixth, Paul Tetzloff delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and a runner on 2nd, the Westwood second baseman hit a run-scoring single, putting the Bruins in front, 2-1.
"Tough loss," said New Rochelle manager Brent Boudreau. "This one will sting for a while."
