Crawdad Park was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.
The Hickory Crawdads banked on Ray Fight and he turned in a masterful performance. The right-hander kept the Quebec hitters in check. The final score was 2-0, Crawdads. Shane Kidd was credited with the save, his 13th in 14 tries.
Jose Valdez had a big solo home run for the Crawdads in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Hickory leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a fastball from Nick Beck and swatted a home run to left. It was his 10th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Crawdads ahead, 2-0.
"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Fight.
The third-place Crawdads have won 5 in a row.
