Bruins 4-3 Victors Over Selects
|
Spokane got a decent performance from pitcher Jon Clark, but it wasn't enough to beat the Westwood Bruins. Westwood won the Selects Ballpark contest, 4-3. Clark threw 7.1 innings allowing 4 runs for the losing team. The win was credited to 37-year old right-handed pitcher Alpha Fields in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jon Clark took the loss. Lorenzo Landin, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 7th save.
Westwood used a well-timed hit by Paul Tetzloff to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Bruins ahead, 4-3. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Bottom line," said Spokane skipper Chris McLure, "we didn't play well enough to win."
The first-place Bruins sport a record of 51-37.
