The Quebec Fighting Quakers withstood a fine game by Orono third baseman Nate Roberts at University of Maine Stadium, to upend the Oaks, 5-3. Roberts went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Mark Herrera, the winning pitcher, is now 5-4. He went 5.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 9 hits, while fanning 4 and walking 0. C.J. Kiefer notched his 17th save in 20 chances.
Quebec used a clutch at-bat from Ben Leonardi to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Fighting Quakers ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Quebec manager Jeff Gray called it "a good, solid win."
The Fighting Quakers move to 49-39 with the win, while the Oaks drop to 47-41.
