New Rochelle Earns 2-1 Win
|
The New Rochelle Purple Wave used a great performance from fireballing left-hander Ricky Valdez to beat the Tucson Raccoons, 2-1, at Ballpark of Lexington. New Rochelle is in first place in the Stripes Conference East Division with a record of 55-29.
In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 1-1, 25-year old right fielder Dave Acosta won it for New Rochelle. With a runner on 3rd, Acosta hit a full count fastball from Humberto Lopez for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 2-1 win.
"This house was rockin'," Acosta said.
