Heat Earn Clutch Win, 2-1
|
New Rochelle got a valiant performance from pitcher Kyle Griffin, but it wasn't enough to beat the Palm Springs Heat. Palm Springs won the game, 2-1. Griffin threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Palm Springs pitcher Ross Lefkowitz got the win, upping his record to 3-3. Chris Hinojosa got the loss. The Heat, at 35-48, sit in last place in the Stripes Conference West Division.
The Heat got a clutch hit from right fielder Tom Klenke. In the bottom of the tenth, he hit a run-scoring single to right-center, to win the game for the Heat.
"We didn't let this one get away," said Klenke.
