Waring Leads Palm Springs Past New Rochelle
|
In a tightly-contested game between the Palm Springs Heat and the New Rochelle Purple Wave, pitcher Andy Waring was outstanding. The Palm Springs right-hander, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2017 draft, propelled his team's 2-1 win. Ross Lefkowitz, who is tied for 2nd in the StC in saves with 16, earned the save for Palm Springs. With the victory, the Heat record stands at 34-48.
Waring tossed 111 pitches over 8 innings to clinch the win for the Heat. The right-hander allowed just 2 hits, while racking up 8 strikeouts in the game.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Waring. "Successful pitchers do it."
