Pines Take Down Chiefs, 7-6
|
The Maine Pines knocked off the Santa Fe Chiefs, 7-6, at Hannaford Dome. It took 11 innings. Pat Grayson was a prime reason Maine won. The second baseman went 6-6 with 6 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Matt Williams notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 3-0. The Pines move to 42-24 with the win, while the Chiefs drop to 31-35.
With the game tied in the bottom of the 11th, Grayson delivered for Maine. That's when he hit a run-scoring single off Carlos Martinez to win the game.
Grayson said afterward that he was "glad the fans were treated to a good ballgame."
