Scorpions Sunk by Eagles
|
The Syracuse Scorpions and Indianapolis Eagles provided some drama for the home crowd.
The Indianapolis Eagles had to overcome a big game from Syracuse right fielder Jason Bloom to leave Eagles Stadium with a victory. And they did, winning, 5-4. Bloom went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winning pitcher was former first round draft pick John Hennig. He tossed 98 pitches over 6.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits.
In the bottom of the 6th, shortstop Mike Dallis gave Indianapolis the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Eagles had been trailing 4-3, but the two-out single off Syracuse pitcher John Froerer changed that -- and Indianapolis went on to win.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Dallis said.
Indianapolis, at 41-25, occupies first place in the National Conference North East Division.
