Purple Wave Win Squeaker, 3-2, Over Selects
|
The New Rochelle Purple Wave picked up a win at Ballpark of Lexington, downing the Spokane Selects, 3-2, in 12 innings. On the mound for New Rochelle was right-hander Erik Ashley, who played a pivotal role in the win. Reliever Mike Deadrick picked up the win. His record improves to 5-1. Vince Rice took the loss. The win makes New Rochelle 39-41.
The Purple Wave relied on first baseman Cameron Williams for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 12th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.
"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Williams.
