Marshalls Walk It Off for 47th Win of Season
|
The Fremont Marshalls stopped the Quebec Fighting Quakers, 4-3, at Hedgehogs Ballpark. The Marshalls got a big game from Mitch Jarka, who went 2 for 3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Fremont reliever Micah Koller got the win, raising his record to 3-1. C.J. Kiefer was tagged with the loss. The Stripes Conference East Division-leading Marshalls are 47-32.
The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With Fremont trailing 3-2, Jarka jumped on a cutter from 25-year old right-handed pitcher C.J. Kiefer and hit a 2-run home run to left. With one swing, the Marshalls had a walk-off win.
"Both teams played hard," said Fremont manager Elias Nunez.
