Ann Arbor pitcher Bobby Purdy had a large part in his team beating the Denver Pilots, 5-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Ann Arbor is now 34-44.

Ann Arbor used the timely hitting of Sam Berger to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Z's on top, 5-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Berger.
