The Hickory Crawdads had to overcome a fine effort from Westwood pitcher Perry Norman to win, 5-4, at Crawdad Park. Norman went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. The winner was Hickory reliever Josh Reed, now 4-3. The loser was Jeff Adams. Shane Kidd earned the save for Hickory, his 6th of the year.

Nate Roberts drove in one run for Hickory. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Roberts had a clutch at-bat. Facing Westwood hurler Jeff Adams, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Crawdads a 5-4 lead.

"We're just going to try to build off this win," said Roberts.

With the win, Hickory upped its record to 42-35.
