Westwood left fielder Dale Day made his presence felt in the 9-4 Bruins triumph over the Walnut Park Bobcats. Day was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. The Bruins, at 39-36, sit in third place in the Stripes Conference East Division.

The Bruins got a big hit from right fielder Sergio Portillo. Facing Walnut Park pitcher Steve McCutcheon in the bottom of the fifth, Portillo pounded a 2-run home run to right-center. His 12th home run of the season put the Bruins ahead, 6-3.

"We try to keep the mood light around here," said Portillo. "Winning helps."
