Purple Wave Rack Up 4-2 Win Versus Denver
|
The New Rochelle Purple Wave overcame a pretty good performance by Denver first baseman Matt DeLaet, beating the Pilots, 4-2, at Ballpark of Lexington. DeLaet went 3 for 3 with 3 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. Ron Lombardi closed out the game, earning his 5th save. The Purple Wave improved their record to 36-38 by beating Denver.
Jimmy Williams had a big 2-run home run for the Purple Wave in the bottom of the fourth inning. With New Rochelle leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a splitter from David Fry, who is tied for 10th in the StC in innings pitched with 90.0, and swatted a home run to center. It was his 3rd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Purple Wave ahead, 4-1.
"We took home the win," said Williams. "What's not to like?"
