The Westwood Bruins took on the Hickory Crawdads at Crawdad Park.

Westwood pitcher Randy Lupton did his part in helping his team defeat the Hickory Crawdads, 7-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. The winner was Lupton. He threw 6.1 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Chris Verellen.

With Westwood leading 5-2 in the top of the fifth, Jon Welsh hit a 2-run single off Hickory pitcher Matt Hartman. It put the Bruins ahead 7-2.

Lupton attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."

The Bruins now own a record of 41-34.
