Root Delivers Walk-Off Win for Crawdads
|
Chad Bendon pitched a gem to lead Hickory to victory over the Denver Pilots, 4-0. Carlos Pardo picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Bob Bramlett was tagged with the loss. The Crawdads, now 50-23, have won 4 in a row.
Hickory got a knockout punch from Mark Root. The center fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"Chad is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Hickory manager Ray Sanchez.
