The Purple Wave earned a hard-fought, 3-2 win in 10 innings at Ballpark of Lexington. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from Hickory pitcher Tom Henwood. Henwood went 5.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. New Rochelle reliever Mike Dean picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Travis Erb was saddled with the loss. New Rochelle, at 35-36, holds down 4th place in the Stripes Conference East Division.

The Purple Wave got a clutch hit from second baseman Mark LeFevre. In the bottom of the tenth, he hit a run-scoring single to left-center, to win the game for the Purple Wave.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said LeFevre. "And not try to do too much."
