Heat Get Hard-Earned Win
|
The Palm Springs Heat overcame a good performance by Walnut Park catcher Jaime Johnson to knock off Walnut Park, 4-3, at Ballpark of Walnut Park. Johnson belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Jose Paredes, the winning pitcher, improved to 6-7. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 3 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 4. Isiah Hamlin earned the save for Palm Springs, his 3rd.
Palm Springs used a clutch hit from Brian Roberts to get the win. The center fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Heat ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
Palm Springs manager Rogelio Sanchez commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
With the win, Palm Springs has a record of 32-40. Walnut Park falls to 41-31.
