The Orono Oaks cut down the New Rochelle Purple Wave by the score of 6-4, with the largest share of the credit going to center fielder Gene Flood. Flood was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Oaks. The winner was Orono reliever Erik Ashley, now 2-1. The loser was Bobby Gang. Orono is now 43-25.

Flood had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a full count fastball from Bobby Gang, he banged a grand slam home run to left, giving the Oaks a 6-4 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Flood.

"This is a very good team," said Flood. "We have the chance to do something special."
