The Spokane Selects downed the Walnut Park Bobcats, 2-0, at Selects Ballpark. Stellar pitching by Jon Clark had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who leads the StC in complete games with 1, handcuffed his opponent all game. Clark, now 5-7, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Tyler Doss finished the game for Spokane and earned his 11th save.
Ian Schelling had a critical at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth for Spokane. He came through with a run-scoring triple to put Spokane in front, 2-0.
"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Clark. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
The third-place Selects sport a record of 38-30.
