The New Rochelle Purple Wave spoiled a good performance by Orono designated hitter Paul McComas, bumping off Orono, 7-3, at University of Maine Stadium. McComas was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. New Rochelle reliever Jason Martin was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Glenn Ward took the loss. Orono's current losing streak is now 4 games.

New Rochelle used a timely hit from Malcolm Babcock to get the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Purple Wave ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Babcock said.
