The Heat grabbed a win, 6-4, at Heat Ballpark, overcoming a fine effort from Ann Arbor pitcher Bobby Purdy. Purdy went 7.1 innings and allowed no runs. John Cochran snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits over 1.2 innings. He's now 1-1 on the season. With the win, Palm Springs goes to 27-38, while the Z's fall to 27-38.

Palm Springs got a knockout punch from Manuel Campos. The pinch hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

In postgame comments to the Palm Springs Today, Campos said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
