Fighting Quakers Send New Rochelle Home with 3-0 Loss
|
The Quebec Fighting Quakers, behind a great outing from Ray Fight defeated the New Rochelle Purple Wave, 3-0, at Toros Ballpark. Fight picked up the win for Quebec, going 6 innings. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. Quebec is now 30-35, while New Rochelle is 30-35.
The Purple Wave had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Fighting Quakers going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 27-year old third baseman Tony Vela came to the plate. Vela hit a run-scoring double on a 2-1 fastball from New Rochelle hurler Ricky Valdez. It was Vela's 4th double of the year.
"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Brent Boudreau.
